## The story

A cast turned any regular kid into a celebrity for six weeks. Lines formed at lunch to sign it. Kids drew lightning bolts, phone numbers and terrible cartoons of the teacher. The coolest casts were bright colors, and when one finally came off, some families kept it in the closet forever.

## Fun fact

A school legend claimed one cast got signed by so many kids that the doctor had to cut through four layers of ink.
