## The story

The best part of any hotel stay was the free breakfast, and the best part of the free breakfast was the waffle machine. You filled a little paper cup with batter, poured it in, closed the lid and flipped the handle. Then everyone stared at the countdown light like it was a rocket launch. The beep meant victory.

## Fun fact

Somebody's dad always overfilled the cup, and batter oozed out the sides of the machine every single morning.
