## The story

Nobody bought cards for the gum, but everybody ate it. The Plank of Destiny was dusted in powder, stiff as a ruler, and shattered into shards on the first bite. It also left a pink rectangle stain on your best card, every single time. Older kids claimed the gum from a pack with a rare card tasted better.

## Fun fact

Some kids saved a plank for years as a time capsule, and opening it later felt like discovering a fossil.
