## The story

On snowy mornings, the whole family huddled around the kitchen TV watching school names crawl by in alphabetical order. If your school started with W, you suffered. Kids screamed when their school appeared, groaned at a two-hour delay, and stared in disbelief when it went right past. It was the most exciting text on television.

## Fun fact

One morning the station scrolled the list backward, and kids at schools starting with A finally knew suffering.
