## The story

Smoke Alarm Drops came in a red tin with a cartoon fire alarm on the lid squeezing its eyes shut. The candy started sweet, then the cinnamon heat crept up until your eyes watered. Brave kids held one in for a full minute. Everyone else spat it into a napkin and chugged milk at the lunch table.

Breathing on a window after eating one was said to fog it up, though that was probably just regular breath.
