The story of Rocket Straws
Rocket Straws were fat plastic tubes stuffed with tiny flavor beads, sealed at both ends with paper caps. You popped one into plain milk and sipped, and the milk turned chocolate on the way up. When the beads ran out, the straw was officially done, and kids raced to finish before that happened. They rattled like maracas in the box.
Kids sometimes tipped the beads straight into their mouths, which tasted amazing and defeated the whole purpose.
