The story of Gerald the Dial-Up Parrot
Gerald lived with a family who had kept their ancient desktop computer, and he had learned its connection noise by heart. In the video, he bobbed his head and performed the whole thing: dial tone, beeps, screech and static, ending with a proud little whistle. Grownups cried laughing. Kids had no idea what he was imitating.
Gerald's family later revealed he also did a flawless impression of the microwave beep, which was sadly less famous.
