The story of The Spatula

It started in a short video by a teenager in an apron and took over every wedding and school dance by spring. Flip, flip, catch, then the big spin and serve. Partners would pretend to catch the pancake on a plate. Grandparents learned it fast, mostly because they had flipped real pancakes for decades.

Advanced dancers did the double flip with both arms, which looked impressive and accidentally knocked over many drinks.
