The story of Less Than Three Hearts
Less Than Three Hearts skipped the sayings entirely. Every heart was stamped with a typed face: a smile, a wink, a tongue sticking out, or the sideways heart made from a less-than sign and a three. Passing one in class said everything without saying anything. Grandparents assumed they were math problems and tried to solve them at dinner.
The rarest heart had a flat straight-line mouth, and getting it from a crush was the coldest move in school.
