The story of Lightning Bolt Waffles
They looked incredible on the box, crackling with cartoon electricity. In real life the points snapped off in the toaster slot and had to be fished out by Dad with wooden tongs. Syrup slid right off the zigzags. None of that mattered. Eating a lightning bolt before school made you feel like you could outrun the bus.
Broken tips collected at the bottom of the box, and kids ate them by the handful as thunder crumbs.
