The story of Busy Signal Board
The board had one phone line, one sysop and about forty loyal users, so getting in felt like a small miracle. You set your modem to redial all evening. Once connected, you read jokes, left messages and played a text adventure about a haunted bowling alley until your mom needed the phone.
The sysop's mom once picked up the phone mid-connection and every user saw a screen full of beautiful nonsense.
