The story · 1986
Every sleepover ended up at the kitchen phone with three kids crammed around one receiver. The script never changed: you have reached the gravy hotline, please hold, your gravy is now ready. Most grownups hung up. One sweet grandma on Maple Street stayed on for twenty minutes sharing her recipe.
The trick was covering the mouthpiece with a sock so nobody could hear you giggling, which never actually worked.
