The elves of Peppermint Ridge walked off the job three days before the big night, waving tiny picket signs and singing about marshmallows. Their boss, a nervous reindeer named Gilbert, had to learn to build toys himself. Every winter, kids rewatched the scene where the toy train factory burst into a cloud of confetti.

The elves' strike song was so catchy that school choirs everywhere performed it at winter concerts.
