The story · 1998
Judge Okafor spoke softly and carried a gavel shaped like a rubber duck. Cases included a stolen garden gnome, a fence painted the wrong shade of beige and a parrot who would not stop yelling the word pizza. Sick-day kids watched it with soup and absolutely picked sides.
The rubber duck gavel squeaked every time she banged it, so editors dubbed in a proper bang.
