The story of Porchreach Cordless
The Porchreach handset had an antenna you pulled out like a car radio's, and it buzzed whenever someone ran the microwave. Teens discovered it worked from the garage, the backyard and even the treehouse if you held it just right. Neighbors with the same model sometimes heard each other's calls, which kept the street very well informed.
Fully extended, the antenna was long enough to bonk a ceiling fan, which did nothing for reception.
