The story of Ringtone of the Month
The ad ran between cartoons: a dancing cartoon walrus wiggling to a beeping beat, with a five-digit code flashing on screen. Teens texted it immediately. The ringtone was amazing for about four days, then it went off in class, in the library and during the school play. Then the phone bill arrived, revealing a monthly subscription nobody remembered agreeing to.
The walrus ringtone was so catchy that some teachers admitted to humming it while confiscating phones.
