The story of Toothpick Sample Chicken

The best meal at the mall cost nothing. A worker from Glaze Craze Teriyaki stood out front with a tray of glazed chicken on toothpicks, and kids walked past six or seven times pretending to be brand new customers. The glaze was sweet, sticky and shiny brown. Nobody ever bought a plate, and nobody ever got caught. Probably.

Fun fact

Mall regulars knew the sample worker switched shifts at three, which meant a fresh tray and a fresh memory.
