The story of Fax Machine Funnies
Parents' offices passed the same joke sheets back and forth for years. Each copy got grainier, until the cartoon was just a smudge with a punchline. Kids visiting work for the day loved the fax machine most, watching the curly paper roll out like a magic trick. Some sheets came home taped to fridges.
One joke sheet was faxed so many times that it arrived as a solid gray page, and everyone laughed anyway.
