The story of Pencil Topper Armies
Every kid needed one, then five, then forty. The rubbery little creatures came as aliens, monsters and grinning fruit that wiggled when you wrote. Desks turned into parade grounds. The rare glow-in-the-dark ones sparked trading wars, and the teacher kept a confiscation jar rumored to hold three hundred.
Kids who chewed their pencil toppers left tiny tooth marks, and the chewed ones were worth half as much in trades.
