The story of Backseat DVD Screens
The fold-down screen dropped from the minivan ceiling, and suddenly a six-hour drive to Grandma's became three movies and a nap. Siblings fought over which disc went in, the front seat couldn't hear a thing, and the wireless headphones always had one dead battery. Parents called it the best invention since cup holders.
Most families owned exactly four car DVDs and watched them on rotation until every disc skipped.
