The story of Stretch Mode Reruns

Dad did not pay for a giant widescreen TV just to watch black bars on the sides. So every old rerun got stretched to fill the screen. News anchors looked like they had been sat on, cartoon characters got chubby cheeks, and the weather map turned the whole state into a pancake. Nobody ever figured out how to switch it back.
