The story of Do Not Tape Over
Every house had one tape with a masking-tape label in Mom's handwriting begging DO NOT TAPE OVER. Somebody always did. Press play and you got twelve minutes of a cousin's wedding, then a cereal commercial, then half a cartoon, then the wedding again, now with cake. Nobody ever admitted who recorded the cartoon.
Fast-forwarding through the static between recordings was the only time the whole family went quiet and leaned toward the screen.
