The story of Half-Lit Mall Fountain
By the late decade, Riverglen Mall was half empty, with papered-over storefronts and one surviving pretzel stand. Teens loved it. The fountain still bubbled under dusty skylights, the escalators were empty enough for slow-motion videos, and the soft music sounded like a dream. Morning walkers speed-walked laps, and everyone posted photos calling it a whole aesthetic.
Riverglen's fountain still collected coins, and the pretzel stand owner claimed she could tell which decade each one came from.
