The story of Lantern Night Market
Every Saturday in July, the parking garage roof downtown filled with white tents and strings of paper lanterns. You walked in circles with a crew, splitting spiral potatoes on sticks, bubble waffles, dumplings and grilled corn. There were booths selling phone cases, enamel pins and tiny succulents in teacups. The skyline glowed, the music thumped, and nobody wanted to go home.
The spiral potato stand cut so many potatoes that its owner claimed he could peel one in the dark.
