The story of One-in-Ten Shishitos
Every trendy small plates spot in town had a basket of blistered shishitos on the menu. Most of the little green peppers were sweet, smoky and mild. But roughly one in ten was a fireball, and nobody could tell which. Families passed the basket around in slow motion, watching faces and waiting for someone to grab the water.
Kids at the table always claimed they could spot the spicy one by its wrinkles, and they were always wrong.
