The story of Allowance Gum

Allowance Gum let every kid feel rich for about four minutes. The wallet ripped open with that loud crackle, revealing a stack of gum bills in fives, tens and a rare million. Kids paid each other for homework help, lunch trades and favors, and the playground economy collapsed every time someone chewed the savings.

Fun fact

The million-dollar gum strip was so rare that kids kept it unchewed for months, until it turned into a hard pink plank.
