The story of Zigzag Heart Lollies

Zigzag Heart Lollies were how you made a friendship official in the third grade. The heart was half cherry and half grape, swirled together with a crackly zigzag seam down the middle. You snapped it on the bus and handed over a half. Whoever got the bigger piece was expected to be extra nice for a week.

Fun fact

If the heart snapped in the wrong spot, kids considered it bad luck and immediately bought another one to fix the friendship.
