The story of Loose Tooth Tuggers
Loose Tooth Tuggers were the most powerful candy in the penny bin. Each square came twisted in wax paper printed with a cartoon tooth wearing a parachute. Chew one with a wiggly tooth and there was a real chance it came out stuck in the taffy. Kids kept score on lunch napkins, and the tooth fairy supposedly paid extra for sticky ones.
Older kids swore the cherry squares could pull a grown-up molar, though nobody ever volunteered to test it.
