The story of Fat Tongue Skate Shoes

The puffier the tongue, the better the skater, or so everyone believed. These shoes looked like they had eaten a marshmallow. Kids wore them loosely laced so the tongue could flop forward, and scuffs on the toe were proof of practice. Brand-new pairs got scuffed on purpose in the driveway.

Fun fact

Some skaters stuffed extra socks behind the tongue to make it look even puffier for the school photo.
