The skinny tie made you look like you were going to a job interview at a rock club. It went over a band tee, never a collared shirt, and was knotted loose enough to slide over your head. Kids raided their dads' closets and cut wide ties down with scissors, which dads did not appreciate.
Wearing two skinny ties at once was attempted by exactly one kid per school, always on spirit day.
