The story of Croonbox Karaoke
The Croonbox came out at every birthday party and family reunion. It had two corded microphones, so duets were mandatory, and an echo knob that made every voice sound like it was singing from the bottom of a well. Uncles sang ballads. Cousins sang the same pop song eleven times. Someone always cried, usually from laughing.
Cranking the echo knob all the way up made a whisper sound like a stadium announcer from outer space.
