The story of Seven-Layer Showdown
Every cul-de-sac had one neighbor famous for the Seven-Layer Showdown, and she guarded the recipe like a state secret. The clear dish showed off every stripe like a geology diorama. Kids dug straight down with one chip to collect all seven layers at once, which usually snapped the chip and caused a scene.
Fun fact
Rival neighbors once tried an eighth layer of shredded lettuce, and the street still talks about it in hushed voices.
