The story of Cul-de-Sac Street Hockey
The cul-de-sac on Wren Court was perfectly round, which made it the best rink in town. Games started the second the bus dropped everyone off and ran until dinner. Whoever spotted headlights yelled car, and both teams dragged the nets to the curb in perfect unison. The tennis ball got lost in a storm drain about once a week.
Mr. Delgado on Wren Court kept a coffee can of rescued tennis balls on his porch for the neighborhood kids.
