The story of Talent Show Lip Sync
Every spring the cafeteria became a theater, with a bedsheet curtain and a boombox wired to the PA. Between the magic tricks and the kid who played the same piano song every year, the lip sync groups stole the show: matching hats, choreography from three weeks of recess practice, and one dramatic knee slide that ripped somebody's pants.
The talent show's sound guy was the gym teacher, and he pressed play exactly one second late for every single act.
