The story of Liner Notes Music
Liner Notes had a wall of listening stations with chunky headphones on curly cords, and on Fridays there was a line for every single one. CDs lived in security cases that beeped if you breathed near the door. The clerks wore lanyards and strong opinions, and the import section in the back felt like a secret club.
The store's listening station number six had one dead ear, so regulars called it the mono booth.
