The story of Gripstone Cowbell Climb
At Gripstone Climbing, every party started with a teenager tightening harness straps and explaining belay rules in a very serious voice. The wall was covered in colorful plastic holds shaped like jellybeans and dinosaur teeth. Ring the cowbell at the top and the whole party screamed your name. Then came cake on a picnic table and very tired forearms.
Gripstone's hardest route was nicknamed the Pancake because it looked perfectly flat and almost nobody got past the first hold.
