The story of Bike Rack Candy Run
It started with digging through couch cushions and ended with five banana-seat bikes dumped outside Marty's Corner Store. Inside, you had exactly ninety-three cents and a thousand choices: wax lips, candy necklaces, a frozen slush, a pack of baseball cards with a slab of chalky gum. The ride home was slower, sticky and perfect.
Marty kept a penny tray by the register, and kids who came up short were allowed to borrow two cents, no questions.
