The story of Streetlight Curfew Games
Every kid on Birch Lane knew the rule: you came home when the streetlights buzzed on. That gave you exactly one hour after dinner for kick the can, flashlight tag and arguments about whether someone was tagged. Bikes lay in a heap on the Hendersons' lawn, and moms called names from porches like an auction.
The can in kick the can was the same dented soup can for three straight summers, and it had a name.
