The story of Municipal High Dive
The line for the high dive wrapped around the deep end, and the ladder got taller every step. Lifeguards blew whistles at anyone who ran, and adult swim every hour felt like a jail sentence. Your pool pass was safety-pinned to your trunks, your eyes burned pink from chlorine, and the snack bar sold frozen candy bars.
The high dive was officially twelve feet tall, but every kid who jumped swore it was at least forty.
