The story of Gutterball Lanes
Saturday youth league meant swirly marbled balls, rental shoes fresh from a can of mystery spray, and scores written in grease pencil projected on a screen above every lane. Wobbles, the cartoon pin painted on the sign, wore a bandage on his head. Strike three in a row and the lane lights flashed like a disco floor.
Gutterball Lanes put bumpers out only on birthdays, so every kid in town suddenly had a birthday every month.
