The story of Dollar Matinee Saturdays
Parents dropped you at the curb of the Majestic Owl with a dollar for the ticket and a dollar for snacks. The velvet curtain opened with a groan, the floor grabbed your sneakers, and the balcony was where the big kids threw popcorn. An usher named Mr. Bell patrolled the aisles with a flashlight, shushing anyone who breathed loudly.
The Majestic Owl's neon owl sign blinked one eye, and kids swore it winked only at people sneaking in candy.
