The story of Wood Panel Rec Room
The Kowalskis' basement had fake wood paneling, orange shag carpet and a plaid couch that swallowed loose change. The table tennis table doubled as a fort. The console TV took two kids to tune: one turning the knob, one holding the rabbit ears at a strange angle. Mrs. Kowalski sent down frozen pizza squares on a cookie sheet.
The plaid couch eventually coughed up four dollars, two dice and a retainer that nobody would claim.
