The story of Camp Mosquito Ridge
Cabins were named after vegetables, and nobody wanted to be in Turnip. Days meant canoe races, lanyard weaving and a swim test in a lake that felt like soup. Care packages arrived crushed but full of candy. On the last night everyone cried at the campfire and swore to write letters, and about two kids actually did.
The camp bell was an old tractor rim, and the counselor who rang it at dawn was voted least favorite every summer.
